Review » Crazy 3x3x7 puzzle will challenge you Rubik’s cubists

Our friend’s at Brando, who have created many fun gadgets in the past, have now created the Simplity Cubic 3x3x7 IQ Brick.

I think the company is trying to avoid the word Rubik’s Cube due to copyright infringement. It really is the same basic principle, but instead of the 3 x 3 x 3 cube that you must solve, this is a 3 x 3 x 7 Cube. At least it’s not the 17 x 17 x 17 puzzle we reported about before.

As you can see by the illustration, it looks like a regular Rubik’s Cube from the 80′s, but two of the “layers” (for lack of a better word) have three layers to them. Gee, I really hope that this makes sense, because I can’t figure out a better way to describe it. Hopefully this image from the Brando website makes it clear.

You can make some seriously strange turns with this puzzle cube. I am guessing that if you can turn it certain ways, that you won’t be able to turn in certain other ways. Again, I really hope that I’m being clear in my description.

Maybe you should try out this cube for yourself. Just go over to the Brando site and lay down $26.90 USD for it. Any Rubik’s Cubists game? We’ll see how long it takes to solve this one.
