Review: Lenovo ThinkPad X1, the thinnest ThinkPad

Lenovo just announced their new ThinkPad notebook series, called ThinkPad X1. Lenovo ThinkPad X1 is the thinnest ThinkPad ever built and it’s looks like a 13 in version of ThinkPad Edge without optical drive. Measuring 13.3 inches diagonally and just 21.5 mm thick, Lenovo X1 laptop will be compete with MacBook Air (It’s Not as Thin as a MacBook Air, But We Bet It’s Tough as Nails).

ThinkPad X1 Features and Price

The machine is meets 8 military ruggedness standards for durability and reliability and feature a 13.3 inch LED-backlit TFT display covered with damage-resistant Corning Gorilla Glass providing 350-nit brightness, 16:9 aspect ratio and 1366 x 768 pixels, a spill-resistant isle keyboard with UltraNav trackpad and TrackPoint stick. Lenovo ThinkPad X1 will be launch in the website of Swiss computer seller Tell IT on May 20, 2011 with priced at approximately $2,900 for base configuration. For a higher-end one, the ThinkPad X1 will be sold with starting price a 2,585 CHF or around $3,150 US dollars.

ThinkPad X1 Specifications

The thinnest Lenovo ThinkPad is powered by Intel Core i5-2520M processor (dual-core, 2.50GHz – 3.20GHz,), Intel Integrated HD Graphics, up to 8GB of RAM, a 160GB solid state drive, HD Stereo speakers, HD Camera and a 6-cell Li-Ion battery provide up to 5 hours of bettry life. Other specifications of the ThinkPad X1 notebook includes 802.11 a/b/g Wi-Fi, Gigabit Ethernet LAN, Bluetooth 3.0, 4-in-1 card reader (SD, SDHC, SDXC, MMC), SIM card reader and measuring in 231 mm x 337 mm x 16.5 to 21.5 mm with weight 1.36 – 1.72 kg. Lenovo ThinkPad X1 laptop also preloaded Rapid Charge Technology which offer 80% fully charged in 30 minutes, Trusted Platform Module (TPM 1.2) Security Chip and Microsoft Windows 7 Professional 64-bit for operating system.
