Review » Developers iOS App Suffer from Piracy

About piracy on the Apple mobile platform, two opposing discourses: some developers believe that piracy has helped make the sales of their application up while others believe the opposite and they want even Apple to take appropriate action. This applies to the company GAMEized who saw the popularity of his game explode during the first week of marketing. Thus, as many as 5000 players then competed in the Game Center, the community gaming platform from Apple.

However, something rather amazing, the studio was then sold only 160 copies of the App Store. The majority of players had hacked the game so now the situation has not changed since the developer has passed that 1163 copies of the game while over 17,000 players are registered on the Game Center.

GAMEized criticized Apple’s lax especially the pirates. If the fight against the jailbreak is one thing, the fight against piracy is another. Apple could very well implement control processes that prevent access to the Game Center for illegally downloaded applications, such as Sony and Microsoft are already on their consoles.

PlayStation 3, PSN access is impossible for pirated consoles while Microsoft regularly makes waves aside the ban modified Xbox Live. In the end, the developer is now considering twice before investing on the mobile platform from Apple.
